Senior managers from Sims Metal Management have visited the United States to liaise with colleagues on issues surrounding industrial contracts and transport.

Marc Moloney (UK Transport & Logistics Manager) and Robert Price (National Industrial Contracts Manager) represented the firm during a visit to Houston, Texas to begin collaboration with colleagues in the US South West.

During the trip, Marc was able to share with Fernando Gomez (Transportation Manager for Houston) many of the systems, policies and procedures relating to fleet operation in the UK, whilst Robert spent time with Matt McCarthy (Commercial Director) and his team of industrial buyers exchanging ideas on how industrial contracts are won, managed and retained.

The visit also marked the beginning a collaboration project on specific target customers that have facilities both in the UK and Texas.

Commenting on the trip, Mike Monburg (General Manager, Operations for the US South West region) said: "There were several items, that if we bring to fruition, more than justify the trip. I hope that we find ways to jointly help our company buy more industrial tons. Should be the first of many opportunities to work together."

Richard Frampton added: “I’m sure that the Sims organisation will benefit from the cross fertilisation of ideas and practices.
